Man denies assaulting a juvenile

Chris Chiba appeared in court on April 10 and waived reading the information.

He also posted $500 surety bond and was released from custody.Chiba’s status conference is set for May 29 at 9:45 am in Melekeok.Chiba was also charged with attempted aggravated assault.Chiba was charged on March 11 for assaulting a juvenile with a rock and for trying to attack him with a knife on February 4.The affidavit stated that the juvenile was transported to the hospital for his head injury.The court document stated that the victim was interviewed by an investigator at the hospital where he told the officer that Chiba on February 4 appeared out of nowhere and had thrown two rocks at him.The second rock hit the victim in the head.The victim told the investigating officer that after Chiba ran out of rocks, he attempted to attack the victim with a knife.The victim managed to run away.The court document stated that during interview with Chiba he admitted assaulting the juvenile saying he just want to get back at the victim because the victim attacked him before.Meanwhile Leeroy Frano who was also charged with aggravated assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery also entered a not guilty plea to his charges.Frano also appeared for arraignment on April 10.His status conference is also set for May 29.Frano was charged for assaulting a man with a knife while at a bar on March 23.
