SUPERIOR Court Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja has sentenced Rocky J. Lina to 10 years’ imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor since she was 12 years old.

The judge said Lina will be placed on 10 years’ probation immediately after serving his sentence, and will also pay court and probation fees.
Lina pled guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor on March 11, 2021.
According to the plea agreement, Lina will be sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment with 20 years suspended. The remaining 10 years shall be served day for day, with possibility of parole after eight years.
Lina, 33, was ordered to report immediately to the Department of Corrections.
According to the judge, Lina shall have no contact, direct or indirect, with the victim for the entirety of his 30-year sentence.
At the sentencing hearing, Assistant Public Defender Vina Seelam represented Lina.
Chief Prosecutor John Bradley said the case was resolved “rather quickly” because the defendant agreed to waive the preliminary hearing and pled guilty.
“Everyone involved in the investigation did an excellent work,” Bradley added.
The victim, who is now 15 years old, said Lina had been sexually abusing her since 2018.
She told investigators that she was afraid of Lina.
Lina was charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, and one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.
He was arrested on Dec. 3, 2020, and his bail was set at $50,000.
