Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong sentenced Markub Melelm after the defendant entered a guilty plea to child sexual abuse, rape, carnal knowledge and sodomy.
Ngiraklsong gave defendant credit for time served beginning on April 17, 2008.Melelm was arrested on April 16 and was charged with child sexual abuse, rape, carnal knowledge and sodomy.He appeared for a plea hearing on June 27 and pleaded guilty to the charges.Melelm was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment for carnal knowledge and 15 years of imprisonment for rape, for a total of 25 years to be served consecutively.For the child sexual abuse charge, the defendant was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and five years for sodomy, to be served concurrently as part of his 25 years sentence.The information submitted in court stated that the child sexual abuse incident happened on April 15, 2008 and the rape happened on August 13, 2006.The information stated that the carnal knowledge took place on April 15, 2006 while sodomy happened on April 15, 2006.The affidavit of probable cause stated that the victim during investigation told probers that the defendant had been molesting her since she was in 2nd grade until she was in 6th grade.The last incident happened on April 15, 2008.The affidavit stated that the minor got pregnant.
