Man in assault case denies charges

Arturo Ramirez entered a not guilty plea to his charges attempted aggravated assault, assault and disturbing the peace.

He appeared for arraignment on February 20 and was represented by Assistant Public Defender Jason Shaw.Assistant Attorney General Anthony De Ruiz appeared on behalf of the government.Ramirez posted $500 surety bond.The affidavit of the Bureau of Public Safety stated that Ramirez attempted to assault the victim with a spear gun over an argument about trash on September 17, 2008.The affidavit stated that the victim and the defendant were arguing over where to put the trash can.The victim was employed with the road and ground crew and was cleaning up garbage and cutting the grass at the time of incident. The affidavit stated that the victim smirked at the defendant during the argument.The defendant went home and came back after five minutes with a spear gun that was cocked and ready to fire.According to the affidavit, the defendant pointed the spear gun at the victim’s face and threatened to kill him.
