HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — On Thursday in the Superior Court of Guam, Adrian Fejeran appeared in court to answer to attempted murder charges stemming from a shooting in Humåtak on Oct. 10, 2023.
Fejeran is facing charges of attempted murder as a first-degree felony and aggravated assault as a second-degree felony with a special allegation of using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. Fejeran was also charged with possession of a firearm without an identification card as a third-degree felony.
At Fejeran’s arraignment hearing before Magistrate Judge Benjamin Sison Jr., Fejeran’s attorney, William Bischoff from the Public Defender Service Corp., pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness, disease and defect to the charges.
Bischoff also requested that Fejeran undergo a forensic evaluation, which will be done by a psychologist to determine whether Fejeran will be deemed competent to stand trial.
Sison, in response, stated Judge Alberto Tolentino was assigned to schedule further hearings, which will include the forensic evaluation and competency hearing.
Shooting
Fejeran was arrested in late December after the Guam Police Department issued a wanted flyer and sought to question Fejeran in connection to the shooting in Humåtak and a separate family violence investigation.
According to court documents, officers responded to the reported shooting and met a male victim who reported a man and woman drove by his residence and he heard “five to seven gunshots as the vehicle passed by while he was inside the garage and noticed he was shot in both feet.”
Police noted serious bleeding on the big toe of the man’s left foot and the second toe on his right foot. The police confiscated seven 9 mm brass casings from the scene.
About a month later, on Nov. 15, officers spoke with the victim, who said he met a man known to be Fejeran and believed Fejeran was the person present on the night of the shooting.
During the interview with police last week Wednesday, Fejeran said there was a confrontation between him and the victim.
“(The) defendant stated that he did shoot at (the victim) with a Glock 9 mm pistol and did not mean to kill (the victim) but only meant to scare him. (The) defendant said he was unaware if he actually shot (the victim),” the complaint states.
In GPD’s press release announcing Fejeran’s arrest, police confirmed the gun was registered to Fejeran’s mother, who assisted officers in locating the gun.
