Man to pay $1K, serve 90 days in prison for DUI, driving without license

AT a change of plea hearing on March 8, 2023, Jerry Smith, through his court-appointed attorney, Assistant Public Defender Karie Comstock, pled guilty to the traffic charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, refusing to submit to sobriety test, and driving without a license.

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Smith to 90 days’ imprisonment.

Smith was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. In addition, his driver’s license was suspended for one year and he was directed to turn over his license to the Office of Adult Probation.

Smith was ordered to report to the Department of Corrections on March 8, 2023. He will be released on June 8, 2023 at 10 a.m., and will  be placed under three years’ probation.

No other details about the defendant and his case were available as of press time Wednesday evening.
