OFFICIALS of the Public School System and Northern Marianas College on Monday availed themselves of McDonald’s Restaurant Saipan’s free “Thank You Meal for Educators.”
McDonald’s launched the breakfast treat on Monday, Oct. 11, and it will continue through Friday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Among the educators who dropped by McDonald’s Middle Road to pick up their breakfast meals were acting Education Commissioner Eric Magofna, PSS federal programs officer Tim Thornburgh, Marianas High School principal Jonathan Aguon, Oleai Elementary School principal Jasylene Parico, vice principal Alisa Ann Pangelinan, NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero, NMC vice president for administration and advancement Frankie Eliptico and department chair Velma Deleon Guerrero.
Similar to the treat McDonald’s gave to the Covid-19 frontliners last year, the free Thank You Meal is available at all McDonald’s restaurants across the U.S., McDonald’s executive assistant to the president Mable Ayuyu said.
Educators can choose from Egg McMuffin, Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuit and Sausage Biscuit. The meals include hash browns and medium premium roast coffee.
Ayuyu said McDonald’s wants to recognize all educators who have been making a lot of sacrifices due to the hardships brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Because of the pandemic, Ayuyu said, schools have to try new teaching methods, such as virtual or hybrid learning.
Many teachers, principals and other school staff as well as officials and employees of PSS and NMC are stressed, she added.
“So we want to recognize them for all their hard work and commitment to education and to their students especially during this time,” Ayuyu said.
“We are very excited to be rolling out our Thank You Meals and we hope that everybody enjoys the meals and thinks about McDonald’s when they do so,” she added.
Ayuyu said McDonald’s Saipan and Guam considers education “as one of our pillars that connect us to the community.”
McDonald’s, she added, has continuously supported public and private schools as well as NMC as part of the company’s commitment to education.
“We don’t want to forget about our teachers. We realize a lot of their sacrifices go unnoticed, so this is really highlighting their importance in our community,” she said referring to the Thank You Meal for Educators.
