Patrol Division Chief Ismael Aguon said the girl was struck on her left leg by a speeding vehicle when it failed to yield for the pedestrian.
Aguon said no major injury was reported but the driver identified as Ranny Fernandez, 33, was arrested for reckless driving.The auto-pedestrian collision was reported to the police at 8:22 pm on May 27 at the main road by the Rock Island Café in Madelaii.The minor victim who was accompanied by an adult uncle was crossing the road when hit by the vehicle driven by Fernandez.The police report indicated that the vehicle failed to yield to the pedestrian and continued to drive on a high speed striking the victim.Aguon said that the victim’s uncle managed to pull back the victim that’s why she was only hit in the leg.Aguon is reminding the motorists to give way to the pedestrians and to slow down at the intersections and crosswalk to avoid accidents.In other police reports, a woman was also arrested for Dui and reckless driving after the vehicle run off the roadway and ram into a coconut tree.Arrested was Osmochel Orak, 22. She was arrested early Thursday morning at the Airai State after the vehicle ran into the roadway next to the Airai View resort.Aguon said Orak was heading towards a bridge in Airai when she lost control and rammed into a coconut tree.No major injury was reported and Orak was subjected for field sobriety test where she failed the test.
