NMI reports 23rd Covid-19-related death; 124 new cases, 6 on Rota

(CHCC) — The Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. confirmed the CNMI’s 23rd Covid-19-related death on Thursday evening.

They also reported that 124 additional individuals were confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Jan. 26, 2022, bringing the CNMI total to 4,564 cases since March 26, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

Of the 124 new cases, 43 were identified via contact tracing, 71 via community testing, and 10 via travel testing. Six were identified on Rota.

As of Jan. 27, 2022, there were 9 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19:  4 were unvaccinated, 4 vaccinated, and 1 partially vaccinated. Two of the 9 were on a ventilator.

A total of 136 Covid-19 vaccines were administered on Jan. 27, 2022, resulting in 98.9% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated.

The vaccination statuses of the 124 new cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 656 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 26, 2022:

451 via community-based testing;

168 at the Covid-19 Community Center (referrals only);

5 at the Tinian Health Center; and

32 at the Rota Health Center.

Of the total cases identified, as of Jan. 26, 2022, there had been 3,950 recoveries  and 591 active cases.

2,066 were identified via  contact tracing; 1,972, community testing; and 526 travel testing.
