(Press Release) — The Ohala Foundation will be conducting a roadside collection on May 7 and 8 at the San Jose/AK intersection in order to raise money to create food boxes for those in need on Rota. The foundation will also be accepting gently used clothing, canned and packaged foods and drinks at the pavilion closest to the intersection.
“We recently returned from the island of Rota and met with their leadership and members of the community down there. The struggle that the people on Tinian and Saipan are feeling are echoed down in Rota on a deeper level thus the Ohala Foundation and its Warriors (Volunteers) and Angels (Supporters) are going to come together and collect as many resources as we can for our brothers and sisters on Rota,” Ohala Chairman Phillip Mendiola-Long said.
Motorists are advised to please be aware of the Ohala Volunteers as they work to collect funds and organize dropped donations of clothes and food.
The Ohala Foundation has provided assistance to over 400 families on Tinian, are currently preparing to begin services on Rota, and eventually on Saipan for people that are facing food shortages
Interested donors can reach out to the Foundation by visiting ohalafoundation.org or by calling (670) 433-2664.
