OSP seized two computers from OERC

Special Prosecutor Michael P. Copeland said investigators from the OSP on Friday seized two computers from the OERC pursuant to statutory authority under 2 PNC §503.

However Copeland refused to disclose the reason of the seizure saying “there is an ongoing investigation and disclosing the nature, scope or direction of the investigation might jeopardize the investigation.”A source said that the seizure might have something to do with Youlsau Bells but Copeland said that the seizure was not related to anything that has happened in the nomination of Bells.“It was simple coincidental timing that it was in the news at the time we seized the computers. Our office received information that gave us probable cause to believe evidence of criminal activity is contained on the hard drives of those computers, and there was a danger that if we didn’t seize the computers promptly the evidence might be destroyed,” Copeland stated in his email yesterday.Copeland added that the Administration was fully cooperative with the subpoena and were helpful in turning over the evidence to the investigators.
