Palasia edges PPR Stingrays in OT

Led by main man Parley, the Palasia quintet immediately raced to a big lead at the start of the game. The Stingrays fought back and narrowed the gap midway through the quarter. But Palasia players found their touch again as their team erected a 6-point lead, 14-8, entering the second quarter.

The Palasia main men started hot again in the second period as they piled points after points over the hapless Stingrays defenders. Only ahead by 6 points at the start of the quarter, the Palasia five widened its lead in the middle of the quarter and never looked back.

Palasia was still on a roll as the first half ended with it on top by 15 points, 35-20.

Appeared headed for a blowout win, the Palasia team relaxed its defenses, allowing the Stingrays to mount an improbable comeback in the third period. The Stingrays, bannered by Chris, unloaded ten straight points as the team rallied from a 15-point deficit. Palasia tried to stop the rally, but found itself helpless as PPR made it a five-point game at the end of the quarter.

The rally of the Stingrays did not stop from there. Facing a five-point deficit, the team continued its hot-shooting while tightening its defenses to further narrow the gap. The game see-sawed for much of the quarter as the two team battled for advantage.

The game was tied 62-all at the end of regulation.

Unexpectedly facing defeat after leading big in the first two quarters, the Palasia squad tightened its defenses in the extra period as it carved out a 74-73 overtime victory.

Parley topscored for Palasia with his 31 points, Daligdig added 10 markers, while Andaya chipped in 9 points, all but two of which were made in the first half.Jacques scored 21, Chris added 18 points, and Jhun contributed 16 points for PPR.

In the other games, PPR Shark Attack beat Sam Sharks, 73-72 and Fish and Fins edged WCTC Powerball, 62-61.
