President Johnson Toribiong said that it is a tragic day for the family of .Sgt. Jasper K. Obakrairur, 26, who died June 1 in Nerkh, Aghanistan.
The president said he had to break the news to Obakrairur family here in Palau as soon as his office was notified of the incident.The president added that the return of the soldier’s remains in Palau is still being arranged.According to a Department of Defense news release, Obakrairur was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd BrigadeCombat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.He was a former computer science student at the University of Hawai’i-Hilo and a native of Palau.
