Most of the prominent supporters of Whipps, who finished third in last month’s presidential primary, have publicly endorsed the Toribiong-Mariur ticket which is running against the team of Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and Sen. Alan Sei.
These Whipps supporters include Ngarchelong Gov. Browny Salvador, Haruo Ngiraked Wilter, former Aimeliik Gov. Demei Obak, and Victorio Ucherbelau.According to members of the Committee to Elect Toribiong and Mariur, they had invited Whipps to a lunch meeting, two weeks ago, adding that the Senate president “assured us of his support.”This reporter confirmed that the lunch meeting did take place at Fish n’ Fins. A number of calls to former members of the committee that campaigned for Whipps also corroborated the statements made by members of the Toribiong-Mariur camp. Whipps, however, could not be reached for comment.
