PCC offers free Mandarin classes

Basic and Intermediate Mandarin classes will be offered by PCC Continuing Education. The class will run for eight weeks, 1 ½ hours a day, four days a week.

“Right now, we’re trying to find at least 10 people who are interested to join the class in order to start the program,” Willy Wally, Dean of Continuing Education, said in an interview.

The schedule of classes will depend on the number of people who will register and their preferences. They can just leave their name and number upon registration and they will be contacted for schedules.

“There will be day and night classes, depending on the people’s schedules,” Wally said.

Kwan Wei from Taiwan will be teaching the class. “She just arrived in Palau, and it will be her first class with us,” Wally said.

PCC has been offering free Mandarin classes for five years now. Wally said the classes have been successful in helping individuals learn the language. The classes helped them interact with Chinese customers and clients who don’t speak English.

“We have served different agencies and all kinds of interested individuals from the government and private organizations — people from customs, from the restaurants who deal with the public and especially with the Chinese people.”

To register, contact Anna or Leona at PCC Continuing Education at 488-6223.
