Division of Fire and Rescue (DOFR) chief Benhart Baulechong said the bushfire was reported at 2: 19 p.m. He said that upon the receipt of the report; fire personnel immediately responded to the area but the fire was almost extinguished when they arrived.
The bushfire occurred near the State’s dispensary. Approximately 300 square meters of wild land was burned, however, no other damages have been reportedly affected.
Baulechong said this is the first incident of bushfire reported since April.
Meanwhile, a structural house caught fire in Ngerbeched hamlet on Wednesday last week.
Baulechong said the fire broke out at the kitchen area of the house. No other reported damages because firefighters immediately put out the blaze.
The fire started at 2:50 p.m. and extinguished after a few minutes.
The Criminal Investigation Division CID) is now investigating the cause of fire.
According to Baulechong they already submitted the report to CID office for investigation.
