Peleliu State treats Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens of Peleliu State were treated with foods and music by the State officials during their celebration of the 23rd Senior Citizens Day on May 5.

More than 50 old women and men came to the Community Center to celebrate their day.Some of the Senior Citizens who are already residing in other States were brought to Peleliu via a boat by Delegate Jonathan Isechal.Governor Kangichi Uchau welcomed the Senior Citizens and guests headed by former President Kuniwo Nakamura and Senator Hokkons Baules and Senator Regis Akitaya. Chief Obak Isao Singeo and Postol Remeliik, Chairman of Senior Citizens Board gave respective talks to welcome the senior citizens and the guests.Traditional chiefs and Mechas also graced the affair as well as personnel of Ministry of Arts and Cultural Affairs.The oldest woman who came in wheelchair was Obechad ra Uchelion Song Mabel. She is 96-years-old.The oldest man was Timarong Sisior. He is 79-year-old.Mabel and Sisior received cash prizes respectively for being the oldest woman and man at that day.You can see nothing but smiles on their faces as they danced and sang happily with the entertainers.At the end of that day, they would all go home and would probably complained of some pains in the body but the happiness that they have at that day is un measurable. To be able to do what they used to do will give them satisfaction and realization that they just looked old but their hearts will forever be young.
