Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration outreach services in NMI on July 17-22

(PCG Core Volunteers-CNMI) — The Philippine Consulate General-Hagåtña core volunteers in the CNMI are announcing that outreach services will be conducted by the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA for Filipino workers in the Northern Marianas.

A three-person team from OWWA-Manila will be on Saipan for a four-day outreach program from July 17 to 22. The venue will be the Sun Palace Hotel in Oleai, which is adjacent to Marianas High School. The daily outreach support service is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For a two-year OWWA membership, overseas Filipino Workers or OFW are required to provide (1) a valid employment contract or proof of active employment; (2) valid work permit/work visa/CW-1; (3) photocopy of passport page showing photo and personal data, and (4) an information sheet filled out and signed by the OFW. The OWWA membership fee is $25.

For processing by next-of-kin if the OFW is unable to come in person, OWWA requires (1) a valid employment contract or proof of active employment; (2) a valid work permit/work visa or OFW/CW-1; (3) photocopy of passport page showing photo and personal data; (4) an OFW information sheet filled out and signed by the OFW; (5) authorization letter from the OFW; and (6) a valid ID of the next of kin.

The OFW information sheet will be made available upon sign up in-person. OFWs that need to avail themselves of OWWA services are encouraged to be at the Sun Palace Hotel early.

Filipinos who are permanent residents and or green-card holders can also avail themselves of OWWA’s voluntary membership program.

The requirements  are any of the following: a valid resident permit/permit to stay for work/employment authorization card, proof of payment of contributions to the Social Security system of the host country; copy of a pay slip issued by employer and or company or the manpower agency; and a certificate of employment issued by the employer. A fee of $25 will also be required.

The OWWA team will also host a dialogue/forum with OFWs and their employers in the CNMI. The day and time will be announced at a later date.
