AFTER a three-year hiatus, the Pacific Islands Club Saipan’s popular color run, the Hafa Adai 5K, is back.
The last Hafa Adai 5K was held in October 2019 with 600 runners.
This year’s run will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, in the PIC Saipan south employee parking lot. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m.
The course starts and finishes at PIC Saipan, with the turning point at Aquarius Beach Tower.
Color powder made with edible and biodegradable cornstarch and food coloring will be blasted onto the runners at five different color stations.
The powder is not harmful if inhaled and will not permanently stain any surface.
Cameras, phones, and high-tech devices are discouraged during the event as they may be covered in colored powder.
All proceeds generated from this event will go to the E-Land Community Fund, which will be spent for the betterment of the Marianas community under the company’s corporate social responsibility program.
The company has been engaged in diverse community outreach activities and charitable donations to local nonprofit organizations.
“Before the pandemic, Hafa Adai 5K was one of the annual traditions during which the community gathered for happy memories and fun exercise. We are glad to bring our signature event back, and hope many residents of the Marianas, as well as tourists, will join the run,” says Dennis Tababa, PIC director of sports, entertainment, and activity.
Hafa Adai 5K color run is a not-timed-everyone-wins fundraising fun run of five kilometers.
Early bird runners who sign up by June 30 are guaranteed to receive one free t-shirt and only pay a $10 registration fee.
From July 1, the registration fee will be $15, and t-shirts will be given only while supplies last.
Registration fees are non-refundable.
Even though the race is not timed, there will be plenty of raffle prizes, with a raffle draw beginning at 8:45 a.m. on the day of the run.
Participants are encouraged to wear white.
