Please don’t vandalize bus shelters

A BUS shelter on lower Navy hill near Twins Market II was vandalized and littered with trash two weeks after it was renovated and repainted by the Saipan Marianas Lions Club.

The club’s local membership chair Lolita Velasco said they will continue to do their part in maintaining the island’s cleanliness and beauty, and are hoping that more people will join them.

She noted that of all the bus shelters they have cleaned and repainted, only the one on lower Navy Hill was vandalized.

“We hold fundraising activities  specifically for our bus shelter projects. We are saddened that the lower Navy Hill bus shelter has been vandalized twice already,” she said.

“We want to have a safe waiting area for the children, so please don’t destroy what we have made beautiful for them,” she added.

“We must share the same vision for this beautiful island. It is the goal of all Lions Clubs to serve the community and part of that service is to help maintain a clean and beautiful environment for tourists and residents,” she said.

CNMI law prohibits littering and acts of vandalism and imposes penalties on those who commit them.
