PNCC adds more international texting partners

Afghanistan: Afghan Wireless Communications Co. (AWCC); American Samoa: Blue Sky Communications; Australia: Telstra (plus Hutchison 3G); Canada: Globalive (Wind); Indonesia: PT Natrindo Telepon Selular (Lippo Telecom) (plus Bakrie Telecom); Japan: KDDI (au & Tu-Ka networks) and NTT DoCoMo (FOMA) (plus Vodafone); Vanuatu: Digicel Vanuatu.

There are now 48 overseas mobile operators in 25 countries whose customers can exchange text with PalauCel subscribers. The most popular destinations for people texting from Palau are the Philippines (Smart, Globe, CURE, Digitel) and U.S. areas. U.S. operators include T-Mobile, AT&T Wireless, Cingular, and Verizon Wireless, and in Guam: Docomo Pacific, HafaTel (also in CNMI), MPulse (GTA), and IT&E (also in CNMI).

Both prepaid (779, 778) and postpaid (775) PalauCel customers can use this service without additional sign-up required. Incoming international text messages are free, and outgoing messages are just 20 cents per send (160 characters). To send an international text to a subscriber of a PalauCel partner network, after typing in your text message just enter 00 plus the country code plus the cell phone number (enter numbers only with no spaces). For example:

• Texting to Japan: enter 00, country code 81, and the cellphone number you are calling.

• Texting to the US, Guam or CMNI: enter 00, country code 1, area code and cellphone number
