Ports of entry measure now a law

This is the third law that Toribiong signed since he assumed office.

House Bill No. 8-11-1, HD3, SD2 include Peleliu and Angaur States as official ports of entry for the country.The lawmakers when approving the bill stated that the designation of locations within these states as ports entry will allow for the promotion of the country. The new  names the official ports of entry  in the Republic shall be the  Malakal Harbor Ngardmau Dock, within the Ngardmau Free Trade Zone; Airai  Airport;           Peleliu Airport; and             Angaur  Airport.“I am very appreciative of your efforts and that of your colleagues in considering and passing this bill,” Toribiong told the lawmakers.He also noted that the Compact Review Advisory Group is considering the possibility of proposing joint use projects with the United States at one or both of the Angaur and Peleliu airports.“The designation of those airports as official Palau ports of entry may facilitate those proposals,” the president said.He said though the airport needs to be improved, the law will now recognize both airports.
