PRCS Board officially terminates Chin

Chin was indefinitely suspended from her post on August 28 this year for reasons of complete disregard of her responsibilities as Executive Director and insubordination and disrespect of the Board.

“As of today, the Board in its emergency meeting has decided to officially terminate Miriam Chin of her employment,” Santiago Asanuma, Chairman of Board of PRCS, said in an interview.

Asanuma added that the Board has given up hope on Chin.

“We’ve always thought that we will be able to be patient, be open-minded and deal with all the shortcomings of the Red Cross with cooperation on her part and we will move on beyond this point,” he said.

Although they have no proof, Asanuma said the Board believes that former Board Members Father John Paul Ililau and Maria Rehuher are in connection with Chin in trying to take control of the Red Cross by forceful and illegal way.

On Thursday afternoon, Palau Horizon received documents stating a resolution replacing the current PRCS Board of Directors with new ones, namely, Maria Rehuher, chairperson; Francis Matsutaro, vice chairperson; Adora Nobou, secretary/treasurer; Nobert Yano; Harry Besebes; Lily Ulitech; Edna Raymond.

Asanuma denied any truth to the said resolution and said the current Board is still functional.

“You can’t just have a group of members of the Red Cross meet and decide to overthrow the Board. I call it a coup d’état by two former Board Members who resigned, trying to take over the Board without respect of its existing Constitution.”

The Board has appointed Duane Hideo as its Acting Executive Director.
