The vessel is part of the South Pacific Commission (SPC) Pacific Tuna Tagging Programme. The vessel will operate in Palau’s waters until September 2.While in Palau, researchers on board the vessel, along with personnel from the Bureau of Marine resources, will conduct a tuna tagging exercise that is aimed to provide invaluable information for conservation and management of tuna.Remengesau said, in a memo to the Director of the Bureau of Immigration to waive the entry requirements of the vessel, that Palau, as part of the Pacific Forum, supports and consents to the research operation of the vessel.The vessel will leave today to conduct its research in Palau’s waters and will be returning to port on September 2.
