Jane Olsudong of the Community Advocacy Program, Godwin Siliang, Hilda Masahiro and Bieb Ilemelong of the Vector Section of the Division of Environmental Health visited the Headstart yesterday morning for dengue fever prevention.
The personnel taught the 44 students what will happen to a child or adult if he or she will be bitten by a mosquito that causes dengue fever.The kids were taught how to prevent dengue fever by keeping the environment clean.The Public Health employee gave Headstart teachers Kayleen J. Ongalibang and Joyla Joshua off lotions and mortein spray to protect the children from dengue fever.Olsudong said they already briefed the staff of Headstart about dengue fever as part of their dengue prevention program.“But they (Headstart) also want us to talk to the students that’s why we’re here to teach the kids about dengue fever,”she said.She said the personnel from Environmental Health would also conduct dengue fever prevention program at the Headstart in Peleliu in October.Due to the large number of dengue fever being reported on a monthly basis by the Ministry of Health, Belau Headstart invited the Public Health’s Community Advocacy Program to teach the children Dengue Fever prevention measures.
