Reps. Manglona and Ada help prepare for San Vicente fiesta

PRECINCT 5 Rep. Thomas J. Manglona and Precinct 1 Rep. Roy Ada were spotted repainting traffic islands on Thursday ahead of the San Vicente Parish Fiesta.

“I like to get my hands dirty,” Manglona said in an interview with the Variety.

The San Vicente Parish is in Precinct 5, but historically was a part of Precinct 1, which was why Manglona and Ada collaborated on the project.

The beautification project is one of a handful Manglona has taken on and recorded on social media in the months after he was sworn into office. Manglona has also cut grass in public areas around his home precinct.

“I was taught to never have a big head no matter what. We might be a small island, but we’re very unique and we should be proud of that,” he said.

Manglona said although his legislative duties take precedence over beautification projects, he does enjoy making time to assure his precinct is taken care of.

“Technically our job description says we need to be creating legislation, but as a representative I feel like your precinct is your responsibility too,” he said.
