ROC donates taros to the Division of Corrections

ROC Ambassador Maggie Tien personally handed over the 43 sacks of taros to Ministry of Justice Johnny Gibbons, Bureau of Public Safety Director Norvert H. Yano and DOC chief Julio Ringang.

The taros were products of Taiwan Technical Mission Farm, a 10-hectare tourism garden in Aimeliik State.

Tien said this was the second time they have given taros to the DOC and this was the larger amount.

“We want to express our appreciation with them (BPS). Sometimes we need their assistance or cooperation they are always very cooperative and enthusiastic. So, we want to take this opportunity.” Tien said in an interview.

The Taiwan Technical Mission Farm produces 22 kinds of tropical fruits, vegetables and crops. They also started preserving the produce products into wines, pickles and jams.

Aside from taros, the ROC is also giving free taro seedling.

The purpose of ROC is to help farmers’ association to establish and expand their distribution channeled to the supermarkets and hotels.

Last week, ROC also donated taros at the Belau National Hospital.
