SINCE its inception in 2015, right after Typhoon Soudelor hit the island, a nonprofit animal rescue and clinic has been providing affordable and accessible services to the local community.
Saipan Cares for Animals has worked to reduce stray populations, rehome abandoned animals, and has provided care to thousands of pets around the island.
Saipan Cares for Animals is this year’s recipient of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Nonprofit of the Year Award.

It is composed of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to improve the lives of animals in the Commonwealth through sterilization, medication, and community education.
On Saturday, on behalf of the Saipan Cares for Animals family, Beth Pliscou accepted the 2020 Nonprofit of the Year Award from the Saipan Chamber of Commerce.
She expressed the nonprofit’s gratitude to the chamber for recognizing their hard work and dedication to animals in the Commonwealth.
Pliscou also said that she had brought with her a two-week-old puppy that she had just rescued that evening before the gala.
She said Saipan Cares for Animals is also grateful to its volunteers, donors, and community members for their support.
“The work we do is difficult and sometimes it can seem like the problems facing our animals will never end, but as long as we are here and we have the support of our community and organizations like the chamber, we will continue to fight to improve the lives of every dog and cat on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota,” she added.
