Saipan mayor asks community members, groups to ‘Adopt a Place’

SAIPAN Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho is asking community members or groups to “adopt” any place on island that they can clean and beautify on a regular basis.

“We have to work together to keep our islands clean and beautiful,” Camacho said in an interview Tuesday.

Camacho recalled that during his term as municipal council member, he implemented an “Adopt-a-Place” program as part of an island-wide beautification program.

He said he is again calling on individuals, church-based and other non-government organizations to do their part in taking care of the island.

“If you live here then it is your responsibility to take care of this place,” he added.

“Go around the islands, choose a place and make the commitment to clean and beautify it,” the mayor said.

On Sunday, the Guam Army National Guard “adopted” San Vicente Central Park.

If you’re interested in adopting a place, call the mayor’s office at (670) 234-6208 for more information.
