In his letter to each member of the delegation, Apatang expressed his “most profound appreciation” to the “tremendous assistance” extended to his office and the people of the municipality.
“The quick and unrestrained assistance the SNILD gave us the past two years has made our island of Saipan a very pleasant place to live. Every penny appropriated for our village and island-wide cleanup and beautification projects brought us close to realizing that it is our responsibility to take care of our residents, businesses, and most especially our visitors,” Apatang said.
The accomplishments that his office made, he added, were “primarily possible because of the passion and conviction of the SNILD members to keep Saipan the safest and cleanest environment for residents and visitors.”
The mayor vowed to continue carrying out the projects that his office made a commitment to accomplish.
He also told the delegation members that the appropriations they made have enabled his office to make a difference in various villages and public places.
“As we begin a hopeful new year and keep 2020 in hindsight, we want to let you know that we are deeply grateful for all the assistance we have received from the SNILD,” the mayor said.
In response, Speaker Blas Jonathan Attao thanked the mayor for his letter.
He also expressed his gratitude to SNILD Chairman John Paul Sablan, Vice Chairman Roman Benavente, Floor Leader Vinnie Sablan and other members for all the work that they have done, and for facing all the challenges together.
House Minority Leader Tina Sablan likewise expressed her own appreciation to the SNILD chairman, vice chairman and the floor leader as well as the Legislative Bureau staff.
She said she was proudest and most grateful for “the work that we were able to do together to address real priority needs in our municipality.”
SNILD Chairman John Paul Sablan said he was also thankful for the mayor’s letter. He said assisting the mayor’s office “is really the goal of this body.”
He also thanked his colleagues for their cooperation and collaboration without which “we won’t be able to help the municipality and the government agencies with the funding they need.”
