Sazanka String Ensemble gets ready for concert

The 13-man group conducted their rehearsals in Palasia , Wednesday night and the ensemble includes a violinist as young as 6 years old.Yumiko Sugawara, Jive Café and Restaurant Tour Supervisor who is also part of the ensemble said that the group will be performing in Palau for the first time with wide range of repertoire.The ensemble is performing at Ngarachamayong Cultural Center at 6:30 p.m. tonight and that the performance is sponsored by the Embassy of Japan. Admission is free.The Sazanka Strings emsemble consists of students of the violin classes of Miss. Sakurako Ito and Mrs. Yuko Ito. “The ensemble was formed 15 years ago and there are about 30 members at variety of age at the moment.“Sazanka” is the name of the symbolic flower of Funabashi city, Chiba Prefecture where they are from. Funabashi city is the suburb of Tokyo, and there are Tokyo Disney land and Tokyo International Airport in Chiba Prefecture. Sazanka sometime hold the violin recitals, also present volunteer concerts like in hospital as per requests in Japan.The group has a training trip once a year in Japan.The group also had a cultural exchange occasion with Palauan students at Airai View Hotel yesterday hosted by Palauan Alumni Association chaired by Mr. Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl.Young musician from both countries perform violin and singing for this occasion.
