Jeraldez Leon is set to appear for his probation sentence hearing at 10 am today at courtroom 101 in Koror.
The defendant appeared on October 20 for a plea hearing and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.The maximum sentence for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon is five years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000.The defendant was charged for assaulting a member of a US Navy stationed at Camp Katuu.The police affidavit submitted in court states that the victim and his companion were aboard a vehicle and were traveling on the road near Imperial Bar on their way back to the camp on August 30 at 1:40 am.The affidavit states that defendant suddenly came and slashed the victim’s face with a sharp object identified later as machete.The affidavit states that the defendant was drunk and was wandering on the road at the time of incident.
