HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — An 18-year-old student was charged after allegedly being intoxicated at school.
On Friday, Feb. 9, officers with the Guam Police Department responded to reports of an intoxicated student at a local high school at 11:06 a.m.
According to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam, GPD arrived and saw school officials trying to calm the student, GJ Silem, 18, who then started “shouting profanities at the police.”
“The defendant was interviewed by police and admitted he consumed vodka earlier that day,” the complaint stated.
Before being taken to the Tumon precinct, Silem’s mother arrived on the scene. Silem apologized to his mom for being “drunk.” The complaint states Silem turned 18 on Jan. 25.
Once placed in a holding cell, Silem allegedly damaged the light fixture “causing the power to trip.” According to the complaint, the metal covering for the light fixture was broken on the floor and electrical wires for the light fixture were exposed, and Silem allegedly admitted to damaging the fixture.
Silem was charged with criminal mischief as a misdemeanor and underage consumption of alcohol as a petty misdemeanor.
