VARIOUS young students gathered at Kensington Hotel Saipan on Tuesday for the Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program orientation.
The banquet hall was filled with young students eager to learn more about how to navigate the local workforce.
CNMI Youth Affairs was in full force at the event, providing valuable information to the youth about employment in the Commonwealth.
Public Information Officer Jonas DLG Okawa shared with the youth potential mentorship opportunities through networking with connections in different industries.
“These guys could potentially be your mentors. You can keep in touch with them as you go through college and your career,” he said.
Ali T. Ogo, special assistant of youth affairs, thanked Gov. Ralph DLG Torres for pushing this program for the youth.
“I want to give a shout-out to our honorable governor who has actually pushed this program for all of you guys. He just wants to see you guys develop skills and make that awesome transition into adulthood,” he said.
The Youth Affairs Office under the CNMI Office of the Governor is conducting a Summer Youth Program and Summer Youth Employment Program from July 6 to August 19, 2022.
The goal of the Youth Affairs Office is to stay actively committed to ensuring children and youth receive positive development and quality education during school and out of school time; focusing on education, career readiness, health, civic participation, youth talent, leadership, and general life skills to ensure their success in their overall growth.
In addition, the 2022 Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program is providing opportunities to youth ages 14 to 17 to build positive life skill development, expand career and technical experience, engage in career-oriented opportunities, and experience financial responsibility by participating in employment opportunities with local government agencies.
