HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Police have arrested one of two men wanted in connection with a criminal sexual conduct case.
According to a release from the Guam Police Department the incident occurred on Aug. 28 and involved an adult female.
“Detectives diligently pursued further investigation and meticulously collected evidence. Following a thorough process spanning several weeks, two male suspects were positively identified,” the release said.
Police released wanted flyers for Justin Peter Benavente and Scott David Duenas III on Friday. That same day police were able to locate Benavente.
Detectives from the Domestic Assault and Response Team met with Benavente which subsequently led to his arrest, the release stated.
At this time the exact nature of Benavente’s involvement has not been disclosed by authorities however he was taken into custody on first-degree and third-degree criminal sexual conduct offenses.
Benavente was confined to the Department of Corrections where he awaits the disposition of the Attorney General’s Office.
The case remains open as the second suspect, Duenas is still wanted by police.
