Woman’s death marks 24th traffic fatality

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — An early morning car crash in Tumon on Saturday claimed the life of a woman and marked the 24th traffic fatality of the year.

Police responded to the single-car crash at 12:21 a.m. on Route 14 Pale San Vitores Road in Tumon by the hill beside John F. Kennedy High School.

“A female operator of a beige sedan was traveling east on the inner lane of Route 14 by JFK hill struck a raised median. The operator lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway and collided into a concrete light post,” Guam Police Department officials said.

When police arrived, Guam Fire Department personnel were already on the scene.

“The woman was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital by GFD Medic 3, where cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered en route. Subsequently, Dr. Johnny Kim pronounced her deceased,” said police.

The identity and age of the deceased woman were not disclosed as notification of next of kin is pending.

The crash is being investigated by police to determine the factors that contributed to the incident.
