Taiwan’s Ma plans to visit Palau

“He will be visiting the country within the next 60 days,” Toribiong toldreporters.

He said details of the trip is being worked out but he was already told of the visit.

Ma will reportedly visit Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, Palau, Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu – six island nations with which Taiwan has diplomatic relations.

Earlier, Taiwanintroduced three years ago , the Pacific Allies Summit,in a move to bolster its bilateral relations and diplomatic presence in the South Pacific.

It was first introduced by former President Chen Shui-bian, who attended the inaugural leaders’ gathering in Palau onSeptember 2006.

Taiwan is one of the major foreign aid donor of Palau.
