Hiromitsu Takamatsu, President of Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd. in his letter to Bedbii Chiokai, principal of the Belau Modekngei School, said that the donation is a token of appreciation and friendship with the people of the Republic of Palau.

The basketballs and the t-shirts were handed to each of the school’s representatives on Wednesday morning by Western Pacific Shipping Co.’s Chairman & CEO Kuniwo Nakamura, Palau’s former President.

The Western Pacific Shipping is Kyowa Shipping Company’s agent in Palau.

Each of the school received eight pieces of basketballs and 14 t-shirts.

Felix Okabe, principal of the Maris Stella School received the items from Nakamura while Dave Ngirakesau, a teacher from Belau Modekngei School received the donations on behalf of the principal Bedbii Chiokai.

Nelson Sisior of the Seventh Day Adventist School will be the one to accept the items on behalf of the school.

“We have limited funds and it’s a big help to us because we have a lot of students playing basketball,”Okabe said.

Ngirakesau in a separate interview said that he thanked the former President for finding a way to donate sports items for them.

“It’s hard to purchase even one basketball nowadays especially that we are facing hardships and this donation is a big help to us, our high school students will benefit these sports items,”he said.
