TRIPLE J Enterprises Inc. became the first gold sponsor of Liberation Day festivities on June 29, Liberation Day Committee Chair Nadine Deleon Guerrero said.

Triple J President Jeff Jones together with with other representatives from Triple J Enterprises presented a check for $5,000 to Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho and Deleon Guerrero at the lobby of Surf Rider Hotel in Chalan Kanoa on Thursday.

“It’s an important holiday for all of us in the CNMI,” Jones said of Liberation Day. “We’ve been here for 37 years and are part of the community. We want to contribute to the festivities and the parade and everything that’s happening.”

Mayor Camacho was grateful for Triple J’s sponsorship.

“It’s perfect for the business community to join by contributing assistance because this is a major community event and it’s a benefit to each other — the community and businesses themselves,” Camacho said.

He said Liberation Day is important because it commemorates the day Chamorros and Carolinians were liberated from Camp Chalan Kanoa after World War Two.

After the check presentation, Deleon Guerrero announced a new schedule for the Liberation Day Carnival festivities.

She said there will no longer be carnival festivities on Thursdays, unlike what was previously scheduled. Instead, the Liberation Day Carnival will now operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
