The presentation of credentials to the Emperor was witnessed, on behalf of Japan Prime Minister Taro Aso’s cabinet by The Honorable Seiko Noda, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, making Ueki a full fledge Ambassador of Palau to Japan.
Dr. Ueki, whose presidential appointment received swift and unanimous confirmation of the 8th OEK Senate, arrived in Tokyo on May 15, 2009, and met the Chief of Protocol of Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 18, 2009, at the heels of PALM 5 Summit, (which the Government of Japan hosted for the Pacific Island Forum Countries from May 20 – 23, 2009) to accompany President Johnson Toribiong and his delegation. Then Dr. Ueki title was Ambassador-designate while pending presentation of his credentials to the Emperor of Japan.Ambassador Ueki was accompanied by his diplomatic staff, Mr. Peter Adelbai, Minister Counsellor, and Ms. Anna Ngedikes Hideo, Third Secretary.
