The president said another meeting between Palau and the U.S. representatives regarding the Compact has also been scheduled.The Palau group is requesting that the meeting be held here or on Guam instead of Washington, D.C.Earlier a U.S. congressional delegation led by House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Nick Rahall, D-W.V., assured Palau that the U.S. Congress will act favorably on the island nation’s request that the Compact funding assistance is extended for at least a year.The assistance ends on Sept. 30, 2009.
