THE 9 ELEVEN Rebels 2 have taken the lead in the Thursday Division of the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after taking down SCS Just Chillin’, 8-5, on Thursday, June 23, at Just Chillin’ Bar.

Just Chillin’ drew first blood during the opening Singles 8-Ball match as Toto Bigcas, Ken Chen and Rowel “Cobra” Mariano excelled individually for a 3-1 run.
But Just Chillin’ suddenly lost touch, allowing Rebels 2’s Phil Kalen and Rey Hermogenes, along with Mervin Sahagun and Eric Baugh, to earn a two-win sweep and even the score, 3-3.
The Rebels were only getting started as they also outplayed Just Chillin’ in the second Singles 8-Ball match, winning all four games for a 7-3 lead.
Just Chillin’ bagged two more wins before the Rebels 2 sealed the deal with an 8-5 victory.
Other matches
In overall second place are the Bamboo Kabalen who tamed the Last Shot Eleven Tiger, 9-4.
Kabalen quickly established control, thanks to the skills of Albert Pangilinan, Aljay Malang and Jesse Guerra who triumphed in three of four games.
Eleven Tiger split the Partners 8-Ball match but Kabalen excelled in the one-on-one clashes, scoring 3-1. Kabalen’s Robert Sanciangco, who cleared the table with a single turn after the break, earned the “Run the Rack” title.
Kabalen’s lead only grew larger as they bagged another two-win sweep in the second Partners 8-Ball en route to a 9-4 victory.
Joining the winner’s circle were the VFW No Regrets who bested the Bamboo Soudelor Construction, 8-5; and the VFW IT&E Homeboyz who outlasted the 9 Eleven Crazy Ballers, 8-5.
