LYLE Andrew and Cassandra Camacho led their respective divisions in the discus throw after the completion of day 2 of the 2022 Northern Marianas Athletics Track & Field Challenge at the Oleai Sports Complex.
On Saturday morning, Lyle Andrew, who led last year’s NMA Track & Field Open Meet, recorded a distance of 30.12m to clinch first place.
In second place was Kaipo Dikito who threw an impressive 26.21m followed by Tyrik Basa in third with a distance of 20.09m.
In the women’s division, Cassandra Camacho, threw a distance of 21.21 to notch first place. Kaie Camacho came in second with a distance of 19.38m while Zarinae Sapong was third with 17.61m.
In the masters division, Leo Wania threw a distance of 20.28m; Maria Ornes, 20.89m; Derek Chambers, 23.86m; and Elias Rangamar, 17.66m
Javelin throw
In the javelin throw event, it was Tyrik Basa who claimed the top spot with a 26.09m record.
Coming in second was Kaipo Dikito who covered a distance of 27.53m while Lyle Andrew was third with a distance of 24.32m.
Shotput
On Friday, the shotput event took place with weightlifter Joey Colisao, clinching first place with a distance of 9.61m. In second place was Lyle Andrew with 9.55m while Omari Joab finished with 9.15m.
In the masters division, Greg Borja threw a distance of 7.60m while Elias Rangamar recorded 6.8m.
Long jump
In the long jump event, 17-year-old Alexander Camacho stunned the competition with a distance of 5.02m followed by Michael Rodgers with 4.72m and Orrin Pharmin in third with 4.21m.
In the masters division, Leo Wania threw a distance of 3.95m while Greg Borja recorded 3.61m.
