Badminton: MHS teams still in the lead

MARIANAS High School teams continued to rule the high school division of the TakeCare-PSS Interscholastic Badminton League after the conclusion of week 2 of the tournament at the  Ada gym.

In bracket 1, MHS 2 finished strong, collecting a total of 56 points.

The team displayed dominance against Grace Christian Academy 2 and Tinian Jr/Sr High School, sweeping all five events to collect a total of 30 points.

Agape Christian School, which shared first place in week 1, gave MHS 2 a good fight, but in the end, MHS 2 won the boys singles and girls and mixed doubles events in two sets while notching  the boys doubles and girls singles in three sets to garner 13 points.

Against Saipan International School 1, MHS 2 earned an additional 13 points after sweeping four events. In the girls singles, however, SIS 1 bagged the win in a three-set battle.

With a total of 56 points, MHS 2 secured the top spot in bracket 1 followed by ACS 1 with 44 points, SIS 1 with 35, GCA 2 with 33, Saipan Southern High School 2 with 15 and Tinian with 12.

Bracket 2

In bracket 2, MHS 1 remains the team to beat.

MHS 1 won nearly all their matches while losing only one event against four different schools.

MHS 1 swept SIS 2, winning all five events within two sets to earn 15 points.

Against ACS 2, MHS 1 won all events but battled through three sets in the girls doubles to obtain 14 points.

In their match against Kagman High School, MHS 1 took three sets to bag the boys singles and earn 14 points.

 MHS 1 garnered 12 more points after nearly sweeping GCA 1 which  won the girls singles in two sets.

With a total of 55 points, MHS 1 is in first place for the second week in a row followed by SSHS 1 with 39 points, ACS 2 with 30, KHS with 26, and GCA 1 and SIS 2 with 21 points each.
