IN the battle of the undefeated, the Cardinals emerged victorious against the CK Bears, 12-1, Tuesday in the Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
Defense was the Cardinals’ biggest asset. In the opening inning, they allowed only one hit for the quick turnover while answering with three runs led by Nate Camacho’s two-RBI double to take control.
The CK Bears managed to break the silence in the second inning with a solo run contributed by Kimo Angailen’s triple. However, the Cardinals replied with four runs highlighted by Nokki Saralu’s two-run triple to maintain a comfortable distance, 7-1.
Their lead continued to grow as the Cardinals got three straight outs in the top of the third inning while scoring five more runs thanks to Roland Masaharu and Saralu who notched two RBIs each and Shane Yamada adding another for a 12-1 lead.
The CK Bears gave it their all, but they were scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings which ended the game early via the mercy rule.
