FORMER Saipan resident Dicky Feria was named Class A classic physique overall winner and the top competitor in the bodybuilding lightweight division of the NPC Muscle For Heart Championships in Panama City Beach, Florida on Oct. 23.
In Nov. 2020, Feria entered the National Physique Committee National Championships and reached the top eight.
This time, he won two bodybuilding events.
“It felt good winning this show,” he told Variety. “No one really knew about me doing a show again, but that’s the best part right? Surprise everyone and just show up and win.”
On competition day, as he looked at the rest of the participants in his category, he realized he had a shot at winning the title.
“I knew I was one of the most conditioned competitors. I was in the smaller weight class for bodybuilding which was lightweight at 154lbs. So I won my weight class and had to go up against other competitors that had more weight on me for the overall title.”
Feria said he gave it his all and held his own ground against 10 other competitors.
As for the classic physique division, Feria said he did not plan to take on that challenge against eight other competitors.
“My main focus was bodybuilding, but one week before the show, I just decided to pull the trigger and jump into the classic division as well,” he added.
His decision led him to another title, the classic physique overall championship.
“I won my class and won the overall title for classic physique. So I am qualified, once again, to do nationals in less than eight weeks,” he added.
Feria said he will focus on competing in the bodybuilding category.
