ELEVEN Tiger Football Club won the Marianas Soccer League 1 championship by slipping past MP United Football Club, 2-1, on Sunday,  June 11, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

The first half was filled with several exchanges made on both ends of the field. After 25 minutes, MPU broke down Eleven Tiger’s defense with continuous forward pressure, creating an opening for Dylan Mister who found the back of the net to give his team the lead, 1-0.

MPU held control of the possession tightly and seemed to be heading into halftime with the upper hand. However, at the 42nd minute mark, Eleven Tiger managed to weave through the cracks of MPU’s defensive line, setting up Sunjoon Tenorio for the finish to tie the game, 1-1.

In the second half, Eleven Tiger caught MPU off guard, allowing Tenorio to find the back of the net  for his second goal of the day, which also gave Eleven Tiger the lead, 2-1.

Despite having a lot of time to work their way back up, MPU failed to equalize due to Eleven Tiger’s defense which forced the ball out of bounds to kill MPU’s offensive momentum.

Although there were a few close calls, Eleven Tiger successfully defended their turf long enough to run away with the victory and he MSL 1 division championship.
