FRANCISCO M. Sablan and Tanapag Middle School are currently the top teams in the girls middle school division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League with two wins each.
FMS collected their second win of the season with Rosie Saralu nearly taking down Grace Christian Academy single-handedly, 17-9.
FMS quickly established control thanks to Saralu who was unmatched offensively and defensively.
She started with a jump shot from the perimeter and then extended her range with a three-pointer followed by two more buckets near the rim for a total of nine consecutive points.
GCA struggled to find their rhythm, but Aiyana Fatialofa managed to score four points to keep her team in the game.
In the second half, Saralu continued to produce buckets for FMS with teammate Kyomi Taisakan contributing two points as their team pulled away from GCA.
GCA’s Ella Hall scored four points while Joanella Yarofalir split a free throw attempt, but their output wasn’t enough and they had to settle for defeat, 9-17.
Tanapag vs Dandan
Tanapag Middle School also notched their second straight win after edging Dandan Middle School in overtime, 20-18.
DMS controlled the first half of the game thanks to Shaenna Yamada’s seven points. She continued to deliver in the second half but TMS fought back with Donica Sansi and Rhodalyn Zandueta scoring a pair of buckets each while Kayshlie Aguon and Erica Zandueta delivered four points to tie the game, 16-16, and force overtime.
TMS then played smartly as they focused on shutting down Yamada’s productivity. She scored two points only while Aguon stepped up to drain two crucial shots to beat DMS, 20-18.
