Guam basketball official to conduct free coaching clinic on Saipan

IN collaboration with the NMI Basketball Federation, EJ Calvo, the Guam Basketball Confederation president and national team head coach, will conduct a free coaching clinic on Saipan on April 15, Saturday, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Calvo will discuss performance training, player skill development, defensive principles, drills and game strategies, early offense, team offensive drills and strategies and practice planning.

Calvo is a successful player, coach and administrator of Guam basketball since 2002. He is the winningest coach in Guam national team history, with over 40 victories and only three losses in FIBA-sanctioned basketball events.

He is also the only Guam coach to ever win two gold medals in the Pacific Games, as well as three gold medals in Micronesian tournaments.

As president of the Guam Basketball Confederation, Calvo continues to raise the level of sport while working with players of all ages on Guam and the rest of the Marianas.
