HAGU Lamun and Peleliu won their games Sunday in the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League at the Dandan baseball field.
Hagu Lamun earned their fifth win by besting Asahi, 7-3.
After a silent first inning, Hagu Lamun broke the ice in the top of the second with a solo run courtesy of Joe Celis who bagged the RBI and gave his team the lead, 1-0.
Then, in the top of the fourth, Hagu Lamun’s John Acosta took the spotlight with a three-run homer.
Asahi finally broke their silence when Darion Masahura hit a two-run homer to cut down the deficit, 2-4.
In the next two innings, both teams stepped up defensively as no runs were allowed.
But in the seventh and final inning, Hagu Lamun’s Richard Quitugua sent the ball over the fences, earning two RBIs along the way as his team regained a comfortable 7-2 lead.
Playing defense, Hagu Lamun quickly bagged two outs, but Asahi’s Edgar Ito scored a solo homerun to keep his team’s hopes alive.
However, Hagu Lamun’s centerfielder Dennis Cruz caught the flyball for the third out to end the game and clinch victory for his team, 7-3.
Peleliu vs Momma Charu
Peleliu bagged their fourth win by outplaying Momma Charu, 22-12.
Peleliu was simply unstoppable as they gradually took over the game by scoring in all seven innings.
Although no homeruns were made, Jun Lizama led the Peleliu onslaught with four RBIs while team mates Joe Lizama and Bill Aguon notched three RBIs apiece.
Momma Charu’s JJ Laniyo had a stellar performance with five RBIs but they weren’t enough to avoid defeat.
